Get Strong With Your Own Body

Progressive Calisthenics – San Diego to Oceanside

I am Elvis, a NASM certified personal trainer and nutrition coach. I teach people to build real, usable strength using bodyweight training, the kind that carries straight into martial arts, sport, and the way you move through your day. We train outdoors, at your place, or in the gym. You bring the willingness to be a beginner at something.

10 founding spots open. Take one and your rate is locked for life.

*Free 30 minute call. No pressure, or script. We work out whether I am the right coach for you.

Who I Work Best With

You will get more out of this if you are one of these people

I am not trying to be everybody’s trainer. I am good at a specific thing, and the people below are the ones who get the most from it.

I.

You want to learn calisthenics properly

You have watched the videos, tried the tutorials, and hit a wall somewhere between a first pull-up and a clean handstand. You do not need more content. You need someone watching your reps, telling you which progression comes next, and holding you to it.

II.

You train martial arts or sport

Strength that comes with twenty extra pounds is not much use on the mat. Calisthenics builds relative strength, power for your bodyweight, which is exactly what grappling, striking, climbing and most sports actually reward. I have trained martial arts since I was twelve. We speak the same language.

III.

You are done with the gym floor

Maybe you have never liked machines. Maybe you have stalled on the same three lifts for a year. Training outdoors on a set of bars, with the ocean air and no queue for the squat rack, changes how the whole thing feels. Plenty of people who thought they hated exercise turn out to just hate gyms.

*I train men and women, roughly 14 to 55. Teenagers train with a parent’s consent and, for the first session, a parent present. Complete beginners are welcome. So are people who are already strong and want to go somewhere specific with it.

The Method

Master one step, then earn the next

Progressive Calisthenics works on a simple rule. Every movement has a ladder, from a version you can do today up to the hardest version of it, and you do not climb until the step you are on is clean and easy.

A push-up ladder starts at the wall and finishes at a one arm push-up. A squat ladder starts on a chair and finishes at a pistol squat. Same for pulling, bridging and core work. Your job is never to grind through something you are not ready for. Your job is to own where you are, then move up.

It means you build strength without wrecking your joints, you can train almost anywhere, and you always know exactly what the next win looks like. When it makes sense we bring in weights, kettlebells and isometric holds. I am not precious about the tools. I care whether it works for you.

What A Session Looks Like

Sixty minutes, nothing wasted

1. Warm up with intent

Joint prep and mobility for what we are about to do, not fifteen minutes on a bike.

2. Skill work while you are fresh

Handstands, levers, pistol progressions. The technical things go first, before fatigue makes them sloppy.

3. Strength block

Your current step on the push, pull and leg ladders. Coached rep by rep.

4. Conditioning and breath

Short, hard finisher when it suits the goal, then optional breathwork to bring the nervous system back down.

Where We Train

Four ways to make it happen

I cover the coast from San Diego up to Oceanside. Pick whatever removes the most friction for you, because the best location is the one you will actually turn up to.

01

Outdoors, at selected locations

Bars, beach and park spots along the coast. My favorite way to train, and the reason a lot of clients start looking forward to sessions instead of dreading them.

02

At your home

I come to you. Garage, garden, living room, apartment gym. Calisthenics needs very little equipment, which is the whole point of it.

03

24 Hour Fitness, Oceanside

Full facility, air conditioning, everything under one roof for the days the weather does not cooperate.

04

Center for Balanced Training, San Diego

A proper training space in the city for people based further south.

Training Options

Three ways to work with me

Limited To 10 People

Founding clients keep their rate for as long as they train with me

I am opening ten founding spots. Take one and the rate you start at is the rate you keep, for life, no matter what my prices do later as my client list fills and my hours get scarce.

The honest reason for this: I am building something, and the people who back a coach early are worth more to me than the extra fifty dollars a month. You give me your commitment and your feedback while this is taking shape. I give you a price that never moves.

What Clients Say

In their words

★★★★★

“As a personal trainer, Elvis’ ability is second to none. With a focus on functional fitness, he is able to do things that leave people in awe.

As a client it is inspiring for a personal trainer to not only give direction, but to be involved in the training as an example. I feel that his attention to detail when it comes to physiological knowledge and correct form allows his numerous clients to see and feel results, regardless of their fitness level.

I would highly recommend Elvis in any capacity, and believe that his wealth of knowledge is something he should be given an opportunity to share with others.”

Kez Bhatti

★★★★★

“I started training with Elvis May 2018. I was not just looking to get fit but also sort out my aching back, a long term problem, as well as a stiff neck.

The training has gone really well and now I can do some things I could only dream of before, crucifix push ups, archer squats with extra weight, back bridges and I’m well on the way to pistol squats (HARD!) for example.

He’s really knowledgeable and happy to pass it on as well as being a lot more approachable than some of the more ‘shouty’ personal trainers out there. If you want to try something a bit different and get total fitness, I can highly recommend him.”

Jonathan Perry

★★★★★

“I would like to express my view on Elvis Tadlanek as an athlete. His physical ability is absolutely unique. I have seen him perform his physical display at the Martial Arts Show and was blown away with the physical strength, balance, and control he demonstrated, and the way he performed with such flair. I was in awe, as was most of the audience that night.

He is a pleasant individual who is positive, full of energy, and has zest for life. He is very helpful and always willing to work with people.”

Mohammed Afzal

★★★★★

“I am so happy I joined the Tara Vitality personal training program.

Elvis is not only inspiring but has great knowledge and set me on path moving forward to better my health and wellbeing. He worked with me to create a diet and exercise plan that works with my busy schedule.

Elvis continued to work with me after to answer my questions as I need help. Just adding some protein and having a schedule has helped me so much.”

Who Is Coaching You

Elvis Tadlanek

I started martial arts at twelve. Karate, then Muay Thai, Kung Fu and Jeet Kune Do, and that opened up everything else: calisthenics, breathwork, Chi Kung, eastern philosophy, the lot.

Then life happened. I moved from Slovakia to the UK, put on a lot of weight, and spent a stretch of years in a bad place mentally. Calisthenics and getting my food in order is what pulled me out of it. Not a supplement or six week plan. A pull-up bar and a progression I could actually follow.

That is why I coach the way I do. I know what it is like to be the heaviest and least capable person in the room, and I know the exact sequence that gets you out. In late 2019 I did 2,000 pull-ups in six and a half hours to raise awareness for mental health, which tells you roughly how seriously I take the connection between the two.

These days I am based on the coast north of San Diego, I train six days a week, and I run Tara Vitality alongside my coaching.

Refer a Friend

Send someone my way and pick your reward

If you introduce me to somebody and they sign up as a paying client, you choose what you get: a commission, or free sessions added to your own training. Your call.

You do not have to be a client yourself to refer someone. If you know a martial arts gym, a running club or one person who keeps saying they want to learn calisthenics, that counts.

Tell me who sent you when you book, or get in touch and we will sort the details.

Tara’s Friends Network

Need something I do not do?

Training is one piece. If what you need is bodywork, breathwork, somatic healing, business coaching or something else entirely, I will point you to someone I actually trust rather than guess at it myself.

Tara’s Friends is a network of wellness and business professionals connected through Tara Vitality. It costs you nothing to be introduced, and it means you are never left with a shrug when you ask me a question outside my lane.

Before You Book

The questions I get most

I cannot do a single pull-up. Is this for me?

Yes, and honestly you are the ideal starting point. The whole system is built on the fact that every movement has an easier version. We find the step you can do today, make it strong, and move up from there. Most people who could not do one pull-up get their first inside a few months.

Do I need any equipment at home?

Not to begin with. Floor, a wall and a sturdy table cover a surprising amount. A doorway pull-up bar helps once you are pulling, and I will tell you when it is worth buying one rather than selling you a shopping list on day one.

I am over forty and I have some old injuries.

That is most of the people I work with. Progressive calisthenics is unusually kind to joints because you never load a position you have not earned. Tell me what hurts on the free call and I will be straight with you about what we can work around and what needs a physio first.

Can we combine this with my martial arts training?

That is one of my favorite things to do. We build your training around your mat schedule so you are strong for sessions rather than wrecked for them, and we bias the work toward the qualities your art actually asks for.

What happens on the free consultation?

Thirty minutes. You tell me what you want and what has not worked before, I ask about your training history, injuries and schedule, and I tell you honestly whether I am the right person. If I am not, I will say so and try to point you somewhere better.

How does the nutrition side work?

It is included, not a separate upsell. We start with what you are eating now, change a small number of things that will make the biggest difference, and build from there. No banned foods, no plan you will abandon in three weeks.
